What is AMTEC?

AMTEC is a platform for collaboration, connecting today’s workforce with tomorrow’s opportunities, while linking the North East’s industrial strengths with the technologies and industries shaping the future.

AMTEC will help people develop the technical and practical skills needed for the jobs of tomorrow, from advanced manufacturing and engineering to batteries, electrification, AI, cyber, space and defence.

AMTEC aims to:

Build skills
Discover opportunities
Shape our future

AMTEC in the North East

New College Durham is helping to strengthen the North East’s advanced manufacturing sector by building the talent pipeline that powers regional growth.

AMTEC gives the North East a nationally recognised capability in advanced manufacturing skills, building on the region’s existing employer-led education ecosystem.

Building on the region’s strong manufacturing heritage, AMTEC will help equip local people with the specialist skills employers need, support businesses to innovate and create new pathways into skilled careers. By bringing together education and industry, New College Durham is helping unlock opportunities for regional investment and economic growth, while contributing to the UK’s future manufacturing success.
