The Students’ Union supports activities, societies and development opportunties for students. They give you the chance to make new friends and share or develop your interests with like-minded people.

Society of International Students (SOIS)

The Society of International Students is a subdivision of the Students’ Union and is dedicated to bringing students of different nationalities together. We wish to make non UK students welcome; to build relationships between international and local students; to provide exciting and fun opportunities and events; and to give all students a chance to explore different cultures, as well as to provide a deeper insight into Britain´s culture and history, we aim to make your lives as interesting and as fun as possible during your stay here in Durham.

How do I become a member?

During induction SOIS talk to you so you can find out more about the society. If you are not able to join the society during the Induction process, you can hand in your registration form and payment to the International Office (N 2.13). It is very important that you fill out everything on the registration form. Your email address is important as all information on trips will be sent out by email.  We will use the email address provided to keep you up to date and to contact you should there be any changes to scheduled events.

LGBTQ Society

Here at the college we celebrate diversity in our a student population.  We have an LGBTQ Society that meets regularly to discuss LGBTQ issues and campaigns as well as organising fundraising and social events.  The group meets once a fortnight.
