If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE. This T-Level in Construction is perfect for you if you want to progress to work in the construction, surveying or design industry.

This T-Level in Construction has been developed in collaboration with employers, professional bodies, universities and businesses so the content meets the needs of the industry and will prepare you for the workplace.

You will develop a strong set of transferable core skills that will equip you for a career in the construction sector or to go on to do a higher-level apprenticeship or degree.

Entry Criteria

You will hold GCSEs at grade 6 in maths, English and a science.

You will need to be able to commit to an industry placement of at least 45 days.

It would be beneficial to do some research into possible employers who could be willing to provide you with an industry placement for the programme.

Study Aims

This qualification aims to ensure you have the knowledge and skills needed to progress into highly skilled employment, an Apprenticeship or higher-level study, in the specialist area of design and surveying.

This Technical Qualification is intended for you if you want to progress your career in the construction sector - job roles could include:

  • Surveying Technician
  • Civil Engineering Design Technician
  • Construction Design Coordinator
  • Civil Engineering Technician
  • Architectural Technician
  • Transport Planning Technician.

Modules Studied The qualification is split into a core component and a choice of occupational specialisms, which are specific to design, surveying and planning.

The core component provides a broad understanding of the construction industry and covers the following construction-related topics:

  • Construction and the built environment industry
  • Sustainability
  • Measurement
  • Building technology
  • Information and data
  • Relationship management
  • Digital technology
  • Project

Maths, English and Digital competencies are also embedded across the core content.

Your overall grade will comprise the grade you achieved on the core component and the occupational specialism you studied. Your industry placement is assessed through your performance in the workplace by your work-based supervisor and your tutor.

Enrichment activities will include a range of guest speakers, product and industry displays, CSCS card achievement and site visits - all to enhance perspective and promote confidence in your career ambitions.
