ESOL
Petros joined NCD in 2016 after arriving in the UK at 16 years old from Eritrea and speaking Tigrinya as his first language. He has progressed to study a degree at university in his third language.
Petros was fluent in Amharic too but admits his English was quite low level when he first arrived. 
Petros said:
Petros studied ESOL and maths, and soon found his feet. Progressing through ESOL over the years, Petros started on one of our plumbing courses.
After successfully completing our Level 3 Plumbing qualification, Petros progressed to study Access to HE in the built environment at Middlesbrough College.
Petros is delighted to have offers from Northumbria University and the University of West London to study building surveying in September 2021.
What a fantastic achievement! Petros is a brilliant example of how hard work pays off. Petros has pushed himself to achieve and is now going to study at university – in his third language!
