Take your first steps towards a fantastic future by joining the Sixth Form Centre at New College Durham.

We are one of the largest Sixth Form Centres in County Durham with a reputation for success. We offer a wide choice of subjects, expert teaching, individual support and help to progress to university or employment. Every September we attract over 150 young people from across the region, who come to study on our outstanding A-Level programme.

100% pass rate in 19 subjects
We have an outstanding learning environment equipped to ensure that you develop the knowledge, skills and values required to thrive academically and to progress on to higher education or into employment.  We achieved a fantastic 100% pass rate in 20 subjects. This is consistent with our high achievements in previous years. It is the result of the dedicated teaching of our experienced subject staff, the excellent personal and academic support they provide and, of course, the commitment and hard work of our students.

Setting you high standards
We are proud of our Sixth Form Centre community and we encourage you to play an active role within the classroom and in the many extra-curricular opportunities that will be available to you. Our community is based on the values of respect and inclusion. We have high expectations and we will set high standards for you, to support your academic and personal development.

Your academic development
You will benefit from subject specific workshops which are additional to your classes and are specifically targeted at improving your knowledge and skills. As part of our commitment to develop your academic growth you can undertake an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) at A2 Level, which facilitates independence  and responsibility, problem solving, resilience, self-reflection and academic rigour.
