Age 16-18

FREE (If meet residency criteria and not enrolled at another educational institution).

If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips.

Age 19+

If you are aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course could be free dependant on the level of the course and your eligibility criteria. This course is aimed for people aged 19 years or over.

This Safe Maintenance of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles qualification covers the competence and knowledge to isolate and re-energise an electric vehicle as well as safe working practices and essential knowledge of the hazards associated with electric vehicles.

You will have some experience or a relevant qualification in automotive.

Study Aims

This Level 2 hybrid and electric vehicle qualification is designed for those who work on or near electric vehicles and require the knowledge and skills to correctly and safely isolate and re-energise an electric vehicle.

Modules Studied

This electric and hybrid vehicle qualification covers the competence and knowledge to isolate and re-energise an electric vehicle as well as safe working practices and essential knowledge of the hazards associated with electric vehicles.

You will study the following two units:

  • Knowledge of Isolating and Re-energising High Voltage Systems in an Electric Vehicle.
  • Skills in Isolating and Re-energising High Voltage Systems in an Electric Vehicle.

Teaching and Assessment

You must successfully complete the multiple-choice knowledge questions and the practical assessment task to demonstrate your hands-on skills.

You must complete the Knowledge of Isolating and Re-energising High Voltage Systems in an Electric Vehicle unit before completing the online test. You will be required to practice before attempting the Skills in Isolating and Re-energising High Voltage Systems in an Electric Vehicle practical assessment.
