NCD has received Turing funding which can help support students to complete a work placement abroad in various different sectors.  

The Turing Scheme

  • What is the Turing scheme?

    The Turing Scheme is the UK government’s scheme to provide funding for international opportunities in education and training across the world. It supports Global Britain by providing an opportunity for UK organisations to offer their students, learners and pupils life-changing experiences to study or work abroad.  New College Durham has successfully received funding via the Turing Scheme to assist students financially in completing a work placement abroad.

  • What can we use the funding for?

    New College Durham works with overseas partners to arrange work placements for a minimum of two weeks, ideally during the summer, and provides support before, during and after the process. Students can choose from a range of work placement sectors including:

    • Construction & Engineering
    • IT
    • Catering and Hospitality
    • Administration and HR
    • Business and Sales
    • Tourism
    • Marketing
    • Law
    • Graphic Design and Illustration
    • Accounting and Finance
    • Education and Childcare
    • Sports

     

  • Who can use the funding?

    Students studying Level 4, Level 5 or Level 6 programmes will be able to apply.

     

  • Why complete a work placement abroad?

    Students can use this opportunity to:

Erasmus +

  • What is Erasmus?

     UK Colleges and Universities now have the opportunity to re-engage with Erasmus +. Erasmus+ is the European Union’s flagship programme that supports education, training, youth, and sport across Europe.

    Erasmus+ provides opportunities for individuals and organisations, including:

    • Study, training, work placements, or volunteering abroad for students, apprentices, teachers, youth workers, and sports staff.
    • Mobility projects (Key Action 1), enabling learners and staff to travel abroad.

     

  • Erasmus +

    The College has submitted an application for the Erasmus  Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) for 2027 programme cycle. This charter forms the essential first stage in re‑establishing our eligibility to participate in Erasmus activities.

     

  • Erasmus + European Policy Statement

    This will be displayed upon successful approval of the ECHE application.
