Age 16-18

If you are aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips.
Age 19+
If you are aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, not enrolled at another educational institution and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years, your course could be free dependant on the level of the course and your eligibility criteria. Student Finance
If you are aged 19 or over and not eligible to get your course free, you could apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from the Student Loans Company to help towards the cost of some, or all, of your fees. If the amount of Advanced Learner Loan available to you is less than the Advanced Learner Loan Fee for your course, you would need to pay the difference. The Level 3 Diploma in Accounting offers technical training in accounting and is ideal for you if you wish to pursue a career in accountancy or finance.
The purpose of the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting is to provide you with the specialist knowledge and skills required to progress to employment in an accounting or finance role, or to further study in accountancy and finance.
This qualification is a natural progression route if you have achieved the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
Entry Criteria
You will hold a Level 2 AAT qualification or a relevant A-Level or T-Level.
Maths and English Level 2.
Additional Costs
The course fees include AAT membership and the cost of sitting the exam. There will be an additional fee for text books or any re-sits for the exam.

Study Aims
The Level 3 Diploma in Accounting covers a range of essential and complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns.
Key themes have also been introduced throughout the suite of accounting qualifications including technology, ethics, sustainability and communication.

This qualification comprises four mandatory units:
You will complete four computer-based examinations throughout the academic year. These are set and marked by the AAT.

Maths and English
Placement
There is no formal requirements for you to undertake a work placement, however, it is preferable that you are employed within an accounting or finance role. A work placement will provide you with a great opportunity to develop your skills in a real working environment.
You could progress to a Level 4 Accounting qualification at New College Durham.
