This part-time course is ideal for those who wish to embark on a career in the nail industry.

You will gain skills in the application of acrylic, how to apply a full set, in-fills and removal techniques.

On completion of the course, you will be able to prepare and enhance natural nails, and apply and infill artificial nails. You will also have gathered evidence to form a portfolio to help you seek employment in the industry.

Entry Criteria

No formal beauty qualifications are needed to study this course, it would be advantageous to have some interest in the sector.

Study Aims

This course will provide you with a thorough knowledge and understanding of the structure and function of the skin and nails.You will learn the Health & Safety regulations associated with working in the nail industry, as well as practical nail enhancement skills.

You will gain real life experience of the practical skills you have learnt by performing nail preparation, maintenance and enhancement services. You will be able to apply your knowledge to both natural and artificial nails.

  • Development of Nail Enhancement Practical Skills
  • Creating Evidence for Portfolio
  • Health & Safety.

Times of Delivery

  • Tuesday - 5.30-8.30 pm

Any times indicated are based on current courses and may be subject to change in future years. Full timetables will be confirmed at the start of each course.

Teaching and Assessment

You will complete two written assignments on the topics detailed below:

  • Nail Enhancement
  • Health & Safety.

You will be required to complete a minimum of three practical assessments, these include:

  • Two full sets of nail enhancements
  • Two full sets of nail maintenance
  • A full set of infills.

You will complete a treatment plan for each client – it is advised you add this to a portfolio.

The programme is delivered by an industry professional, therefore, you will gain a valuable insight into the realities of working within the sector. You will receive guidance on product purchasing throughout the course.

Maths and English

As this is a full cost course you will not be required to undertake any formal maths or English qualification. The course does however promote opportunities to develop and enhance these skills.

Placement

There is no compulsory placement on this programme, however, we advise learners gain practical experience whether this be practicing on friends and family or volunteering at a salon.
