Inclusive Employers is the UK’s first and leading membership organisation dedicated to helping employers create inclusive workplaces and turn inclusion into a part of everyday life.
Through membership, training, and consultancy, Inclusive Employers offers engaging initiatives to foster better workplace cultures. The organisation provides expertise in developing sustainable inclusion strategies and help organisations of all sizes tap into diverse talent, enabling them to enjoy the benefits that inclusivity can bring to both staff and employers.
Alison Maynard, Deputy Principal at New College Durham, said, "We are absolutely thrilled with this wonderful achievement! This award is recognition of the hard work and dedication of all involved. We realise that as an educational institution we have a responsibility to be as accessible as possible to anyone, staff or student who spends time here at New College Durham.
The Inclusive Employers Standard is a thorough, evidence-based accreditation and is recognised nationally. Employers undertake the accreditation on a voluntary basis and are encouraged to continue to re-submit evidence of development every two years.
Alison added, “This process has helped us gain insights into our inclusion journey and pinpoint key areas for growth in the future. We understand that these are the first steps on our journey to further enhance inclusion here at New College Durham and to foster a positive impact both within our organisation and the wider college community."
Emily Pattinson, Senior Inclusive Employers Standard Programme Lead at Inclusive Employers, comments:
“We’re so proud that New College Durham has demonstrated a strong commitment to nurturing an inclusive culture and has earned their bronze accreditation. In a time when the work around inclusion and diversity can feel quite overwhelming, organisations like New College Durham are key to driving meaningful change. By actively engaging in their inclusion development, they set a brilliant example for others in their sector, showing that they truly value their staff, students, and partners while creating a culture of impactful inclusion.”
