Two of the students currently at New College Durham, 18-year-old Kaitlyn Todd and 20-year-old Paige-Louise Nichol are both in their final year of studying for Level 3 Performing Arts
Kaitlyn, said, “I had the opportunity to perform in last year’s Durham Fringe Festival, and it was a real eye-opener. You really get to appreciate the speed and professionalism of those who set the stage, lights, and sound as well as that of your fellow performers, there really is a lot of work needed to put a show on.”
Paige-Louise, added, “I always wanted to be centre of attention from an early age. It just felt natural to me to start with but as I grew older, I realised that there’s a lot of hard work to be done if you want to take it further. New College Durham and the teaching staff here have been fantastic in supporting me over the past few years and I can’t thank them enough.”
Gemma Whelam, Performing Arts Lecturer at New College Durham added, “This will the fourth year that New College Durham students have performed at the Durham Fringe Festival. This year our Performing arts students Level 3 and Leve 4 are bringing a fantastic show to the Assembly Rooms in Durham. I encourage everyone to come along and see some of the stars of tomorrow shine bright!”
