Our fabrication and welding team supported Kieran McShane with his preparations for the WorldSkills Construction Metalwork International final this week.
Kieran is representing Squad UK in the final held at Lincoln Electric in Cleveland, USA. As a WSUK Centre of Excellence, NCD offered Kieran the opportunity to complete a familiarisation session using our Baileigh hydraulic folder.
Following his training session, Kieran spoke to our students and apprentices about his experience training for the competition and reaching the final. Kieran also shared his five years of experience as an apprentice with his employer, WEC Group in Burnley.
NCD student, Brooklyn King, has made it to the final in November. Programme Leader and WorldSkills judge, Christopher Dawson, is actively working with Fablink to further develop Brooklyn’s skills to ensure he is prepared for the final. Brooklyn will be age eligible for the UK Long Squad next year.
Everyone at NCD wishes Kieran the best of luck in Cleveland for the final special edition this week.
