Dean Purcell joined NCD to study in our automotive workshops on our full-time motor vehicle course. Dean said:
“As part of the course, I had to find a work placement so I got in touch with SG Petch Durham Branch.”
Dean secured a work placement at SG Petch, and was thrilled to be asked to join the team on a permanent basis as an Apprentice Technician.
“I work four days a week at the dealership and attend college one day a week to complete the Level 2 Autocare qualification. I am very grateful for the support and guidance I have received from my mentors and tutors at NCD. The apprenticeship has developed my knowledge, skills and confidence to allow me to progress to the next level. I am extremely proud of myself.”
Dean completed his End Point Assessment (EPA) and passed to a high standard – well done from everyone at NCD!
Lee Wilkinson, Service Manager SG Petch Durham, commented:
“Dean impressed us with his attitude, enthusiasm and work ethic in the two weeks he completed his work placement with us. Since joining the team as an apprentice, Dean has matured and improved which has transformed him into a valuable member of the SG Petch Nissan Service Team.
“Dean contributes daily and goes the extra mile to maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service. Everyone from SG Petch was delighted when Dean passed with a Distinction – it validated all of the hard work Dean, his tutors and our team had put into his time as an apprentice.
“Next steps for Dean are to follow the Nissan Technician Pathway at the Nissan Training Centre and online. He will achieve his aim to become a Nissan Master Technician if he continues to be as dedicated and hard working.”
Ian Sturdy, Apprenticeship Programme Leader, and Richard Crooks, Apprenticeship Skills Co-ordinator, added:
“Dean was a pleasure to teach. He was dedicated to achieving his apprenticeship, even through the challenges he faced during the pandemic.
