A group of our University Centre students recently visited Lisbon to take part in a project-based competition for L’Oréal.
Businet – a network for international higher education institutes – organised the competition for our BA (Hons) Design (Top-up), BA (Hons) Visual Arts (Top-up), and FdA Film & Media Production students.
Richard Hall, Programme Leader, commented:
“We are so proud of our students for working fantastically well and were amongst the top groups. The project provided the group with an exciting and enriching experience in Lisbon that will enhance their CVs and support their future progression.”
The project involved students from different countries and specialisms coming together in 10 teams to compete in mixed multidisciplinary teams. The brief was to develop a creative communication strategy to promote L’Oréal being a leader in sustainability.
The students involved were enthusiastic about the opportunity to compete in the challenges set by L’Oréal whilst developing transferable skills in business, marketing and creative skills.
Maja Gulbinska, BA (Hons) Visual Arts (Top-up) student, said:
“It was great being put into teams with people from different cultures to work on the project for L’Oréal, as well as explore the city. As a graphic designer, my creative contribution was really appreciated by my team as I adapted the L’Oréal logo to include a sustainability edge.”
Jack Rumfitt, BA (Hons) Design (Top-up) student, commented:
“Lisbon was a nice trip away, I enjoyed meeting new people and new places. The project was also a great way to develop my communication and teamwork skills.”
Callum Watson, BA (Hons) Visual Arts (Top-up) student, said:
“The trip and project offered a great opportunity for me to work for a multinational corporation and enhance my CV.”
